SMI Security – Miami-Dade County Floater Security Officer

SMI Security is currently seeking a reliable and experienced Floater Security Officer to join our team and provide overnight coverage at multiple security posts throughout Miami-Dade County, including locations in the Opa-locka and Biscayne areas.

This position is ideal for a security professional who is dependable, flexible, comfortable working independently, and able to travel between assigned locations as needed.

Position Details:

Position: Miami-Dade County Floater Security Officer
Shift: Overnight, 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Schedule: Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday & Tuesday
Hours: 40 guaranteed hours per week
Pay Rate: $18.00 per hour
Locations: Opa-locka and Biscayne-area properties
Employment: Full-Time

Job Responsibilities:

The Floater Security Officer will be responsible for providing reliable security coverage at three assigned posts based on operational needs.

Responsibilities include:

Reporting to assigned locations on time and fully prepared to work.
Providing security coverage when assigned officers are absent, unavailable, or when additional coverage is required.
Conducting foot and vehicle patrols as directed by post orders.
Monitoring entrances, exits, common areas, parking areas, and other designated locations.
Maintaining a visible and professional security presence.
Monitoring for suspicious activity, safety concerns, property damage, unauthorized access, and other security-related issues.
Responding appropriately to incidents and emergencies.
Completing accurate daily activity reports and incident reports.
Communicating professionally with SMI management, clients, residents, guests, employees, and other security personnel.
Following all SMI Security policies, client instructions, post orders, and applicable laws and regulations.
Maintaining reliable communication with the Operations Team while traveling between or reporting to assigned posts.
Remaining flexible regarding the specific post assigned each night based on operational requirements.

Required Qualifications:

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

Valid Florida Class D Security Officer License.
Valid driver's license.
Reliable personal vehicle for traveling between assigned security locations.
Ability to work the required overnight schedule of 11:00 PM–7:00 AM.
Ability to work Friday through Tuesday as scheduled.
Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
Professional communication and customer-service skills.
Ability to work independently and make sound decisions within established post orders and company procedures.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods as required by the assigned post.
Ability to maintain alertness and attention to detail throughout the overnight shift.

Important Scheduling Requirement:

This is a 40-hour-per-week floater position, and the selected candidate must be available for the full scheduled workweek of Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, 11:00 PM–7:00 AM.

Because the position provides coverage at multiple locations, candidates must be comfortable traveling between assigned posts and reporting to different locations within the designated Miami-Dade County coverage area.
