SMI Security is seeking an experienced and dependable Security Shift Supervisor to join our team at the Port of Miami Cargo operation.

The Security Shift Supervisor will be responsible for providing leadership and oversight to security officers assigned to the cargo facility while ensuring that SMI Security policies, client requirements, post orders, and operational procedures are consistently followed.

This position requires someone with prior supervisory or leadership experience, strong communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to maintain a professional presence in a high-security environment.

Position Details:

• Position: Security Shift Supervisor.
• Location: Port of Miami – Cargo Side.
• Pay Rate: $20.00 per hour.
• Schedule:
  • Monday: 9:00 PM – 5:00 AM.
  • Tuesday: 9:00 PM – 5:00 AM.
  • Wednesday: 9:00 PM – 5:00 AM.
  • Thursday: Off.
  • Friday: Off.
  • Saturday: 5:00 AM – 1:00 PM.
  • Sunday: 5:00 AM – 1:00 PM.

Key Responsibilities

The Security Shift Supervisor will:

• Supervise and provide direction to security officers assigned to the cargo operation.
• Ensure officers report to their assigned posts on time and remain properly positioned throughout their shifts.
• Conduct routine inspections of security personnel and assigned areas.
• Ensure compliance with SMI Security policies, client requirements, post orders, and applicable regulations.
• Monitor access control procedures and verify that authorized personnel, vehicles, and visitors are properly screened and documented.
• Respond to security incidents, emergencies, and operational concerns as required.
• Complete accurate daily activity reports, incident reports, and supervisory documentation.
• Communicate staffing concerns, incidents, performance issues, and operational updates to SMI management.
• Assist with training, coaching, and performance management of assigned officers.
• Address attendance, punctuality, uniform, post-performance, and other operational issues in accordance with company procedures.
• Maintain professional communication with the client, port personnel, SMI management, and security officers.
• Ensure that security coverage is maintained and immediately report any potential lapse in coverage.
• Perform other security and supervisory duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Valid Florida Class D Security Officer License.
• Valid TWIC Card.
• Valid driver's license.
• Reliable personal transportation to and from the Port of Miami.
• Previous security supervisory, team-lead, shift-lead, military, law-enforcement, or other relevant leadership experience.
• Ability to work the required overnight and early-morning schedule.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to effectively lead, direct, and hold security personnel accountable.
• Ability to complete written reports and maintain accurate documentation.
• Professional appearance and conduct.
• Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during incidents or emergency situations.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference may be given to candidates with experience in:

• Port or maritime security.
• Cargo facility security.
• Access control.
• Transportation or logistics security.
• Hotel, condominium, commercial, or industrial security.
• Security supervision or operations.
• Incident reporting and emergency response.
