SMI Security is Hiring – Shift Supervisor | Port Everglades

SMI Security is currently hiring experienced Shift Supervisors for our security operation at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

This is an excellent opportunity for a dependable security professional with strong leadership skills who is looking to advance into or continue working in a supervisory position within a busy port environment.

Position Details:
Position: Shift Supervisor
Location: Port Everglades – Fort Lauderdale, FL
Pay Rate: $19.00 per hour
Hours: 40+ hours per week
Schedule: Various shifts available

The available shifts will be discussed during the interview process with the Account Manager at the Port Everglades site.

Candidates must be flexible and available to work afternoon and overnight shifts, as scheduling is based on the operational needs of the account.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
  • Valid Florida Security D License.
  • Valid TWIC Card.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Clean driving record with no points.
  • Previous security supervisory experience or supervisory experience in another related field.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to supervise and hold officers accountable.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
  • Professional appearance and conduct.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, afternoons, and overnight shifts when required.

Supervisor Responsibilities:
The Shift Supervisor will assist with maintaining a professional, safe, and fully staffed security operation. Responsibilities may include:
  • Supervising security officers assigned to the account.
  • Ensuring officers report to their assigned posts on time.
  • Monitoring officer performance and attendance.
  • Conducting site and post checks.
  • Enforcing post orders, SMI policies, and client requirements.
  • Addressing performance, uniform, attendance, and conduct concerns.
  • Reviewing daily activity reports and incident reports.
  • Responding to operational issues and emergencies.
  • Communicating effectively with SMI management and the client.
  • Assisting with call-offs and staffing coverage.
  • Maintaining accountability and professionalism throughout the shift.
  • Ensuring officers remain at their assigned posts and perform their duties properly.

Bilingual Skills:
Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills are a plus and will be considered an advantage.
