Job Title: Security Officer – UPS Cargo (AOA Operations)
Pay Rate: $21.91 per hour.
Schedule: Tuesday – Friday | Split Shift | 32 hours weekly.
  •  0600–1000.
  •  1800–2200.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a professional and highly reliable Security Officer for UPS Cargo operations within the Aircraft Operations Area (AOA). This position plays a critical role in maintaining the safety, security, and integrity of high-value cargo movements within a controlled airport environment.

The Security Officer will be responsible for monitoring restricted areas, protecting aircraft-side cargo operations, and ensuring full compliance with airport and security regulations.

Key Responsibilities
AOA Patrol Operations:
  •  Conduct routine patrols of the Aircraft Operations Area (AOA) using a golf cart or approved security vehicle.
  •  Ensure continuous surveillance of secured airside zones.
  •  Maintain a visible security presence to deter unauthorized activity.
  • Valid Driver’s License (DL) is required.

High-Value Cargo Monitoring:
  •  Confirm and monitor high-value shipments entering and exiting aircraft-side operations.
  •  Verify shipment handling procedures during loading and unloading.
  •  Report discrepancies or suspicious activity immediately to supervisory staff.
  •  Ensure proper chain-of-custody for sensitive cargo.

Access Control & Perimeter Security:
  •  Prevent unauthorized access to the AOA and restricted airport zones.
  •  Monitor and challenge all personnel and vehicles entering secured areas.
  •  Ensure compliance with airport security identification protocols.
  •  Support enforcement of TSA and airport security regulations.

Incident Response:
  •  Respond promptly to security-related incidents within the AOA, including: 
    •  Medical emergencies.
    •  Workplace accidents.
    •  Security breaches or unauthorized access attempts.
  •  Coordinate with airport authorities, UPS leadership, and emergency responders as needed.
  •  Maintain calm and professional response under pressure.

Reporting & Documentation:
  •  Complete detailed and accurate incident reports for all security-related events.
  •  Document daily patrol activities and observations.
  •  Report any irregularities in cargo handling, access control, or safety procedures.
  •  Maintain clear and timely communication logs.

Dispatch Verification:
  •  Verify dispatch and delivery records for accuracy upon cargo arrival and departure.
  •  Ensure documentation matches physical cargo movement.
  •  Report inconsistencies or missing records immediately.
  •  Support operational accountability for all shipments.

Required Qualifications:
  •  High school diploma or equivalent.
  •  Valid Driver’s License (required for AOA patrol vehicle operation).
  •  Must successfully complete MDAD ID Badge Clearance Process prior to assignment.
  •  Strong attention to detail and situational awareness.
  •  Ability to follow strict security protocols and airport regulations.
  •  Professional communication skills.

Language Requirements:
  • English is required.
  •  Bilingual (Spanish/English) is preferred but not mandatory.

Work Schedule:
This position operates on a split shift schedule:
  • Tuesday – Friday:
    •  Morning Shift: 0600 – 1000.
    •  Evening Shift: 1800 – 2200.
  • Total Weekly Hours: 32 hours.

Work Environment:
  •  Airport cargo and airside operational environment.
  •  High-security restricted access (AOA).
  •  Outdoor and vehicle-based patrol duties.
  •  Fast-paced logistics and cargo handling zone.
