About the Job
Road Captain – Nighttime Operations.
SMI Security is seeking a dependable, experienced, and highly motivated Road Captain to support our field and nighttime operations. This position requires strong leadership, accountability, flexibility, and the ability to work independently while responding effectively to changing operational needs.
Key Qualifications & Responsibilities:
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience, preferably in security or field operations.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and no points. Extensive driving throughout the shift is required.
- Strong reliability, flexibility, and availability, including the ability to respond to unexpected operational needs and emergencies.
- Ability to work a flexible 40-hour workweek. The position has an established start time, but the end time may vary based on operational needs.
- Demonstrate strong follow-through and attention to instructions. Must be able to receive direction, complete assignments independently, provide updates, and follow tasks through to completion.
- Strong sense of urgency, ownership, and accountability when addressing operational issues.
- Ability to enforce SMI Security policies, procedures, rules, and performance standards with field personnel.
- Comfortable spending a significant portion of the workday driving between properties, conducting field inspections, supervising officers, and working independently.
- Tech-savvy and comfortable using mobile applications, reporting systems, GPS/telematics, email, and other technology used in daily operations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with security officers, clients, supervisors, and management.
- Must be available to occasionally cover open shifts at client properties when operationally necessary. Additional flat-rate compensation may be available for approved post-coverage assignments.
Compensation:
$18.10 per hour based on a standard 40-hour workweek, equivalent to approximately $37,648 annually, plus applicable flat-rate compensation for approved additional post-coverage assignments.
